RALEIGH -- The DENR Library, the N.C. Musuem of Natural Sciences and the Cameron Village Regional Library are proud to announce the next library workshop! Dr. Orrin Pilkey will speak in the Museum's auditorium during the afternoon session as it was projected that we would not have enough space in the DENR Library for all the people who'd like to attend. We are very thankful the Museum was gracious enough to partner with us on this program!

Orrin Pilkey, a well-known author, scientist, and professor at Duke's Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences, is the co-author of many books, including "How to Read a North Carolina Beach: Bubble Holes, Barking Sands, and Rippled Runnels" and "The Beaches are Moving: The Drowning of America's Shoreline." He has published numerous articles in prestigious journals and reference works. His work has also appeared in the Independent Weekly and he has been featured in New York Times Magazine, Esquire, Oceans Magazine, Smithsonian Magazine, the Chronicle of Higher Education and National Geographic. Dr. Pilkey will talk about how erosion is impacting North Carolina's beaches and his views on how beach erosion should be addressed.
