RALEIGH -- Cool off from the long hot summer while making new friends and having FUN as a volunteer at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science. Learn more about the exciting opportunities available during the Museum's Volunteer Open House on Tuesday, August 30 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Anyone from 18 to 108 is welcome! Volunteers are needed now to help visitors discover nature throughout the Museum. Lend a hand with Curiosity Classes, exploration carts, animal care, special events, butterfly gardening, and research, as well as in the Discovery Room, the Fossil Lab, the Naturalist Center, the Living Conservatory, and the Museum's new outdoor educational facility at Prairie Ridge.
Museum staff members will be on hand to answer your questions and tour you through the Museum's programs. Volunteers receive free parking, discounts at the Museum gift shop, reduced fees for Museum programs, and invitations to special Museum events and trips. With scores of volunteer opportunities available, come to the Volunteer Open House and find the one that's just right for you!
The Museum is located on Bicentennial Plaza, between the Capitol and Legislative Building in downtown Raleigh. Free parking is available after 5 p.m. on the street or in the surface parking lots at the corner of Jones and Wilmington streets. The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, in downtown Raleigh, documents and interprets the natural history of the state of North Carolina through exhibits, research, collections, publications, and educational programming.
