Come to Pints and Pulsars at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences to view the stars, talk about the weather and enjoy refreshments with Pathfinders, the Friends of the Museum’s adult group. On January 16 from 7 to 10 p.m., enjoy wine, microbrews, light snacks and jazz music while you:

  • Preview the Museum’s Astronomy Day, Jan. 18, by discovering how much you weigh on other planets, sponsored by the Raleigh Astronomy Club.
  • Meet live “Out of this World Animals,” such as crabs, lizards, snakes, scorpions and fish represented in stellar constellations.
  • Learn how natural forces unleash their fury at the “Powers of Nature” special exhibit. From the Franklin Institute, Philadelphia, this exhibit reveals the science behind natural disasters and how experts predict them. (Free; normally $5 for adults.)

At Pints and Pulsars, find out what’s on tap for Pathfinders in 2003. A dynamic membership society of the Friends of the Museum, Pathfinders encourages adults age 21 and over to rediscover the natural world. Pathfinders supports the Museum of Natural Sciences through exhibits, outdoor adventures, day excursions and social events. Calendars, event descriptions, and sign-ups for trips and social events will be available at the event.

“Pathfinders events provide a chance to see the Museum’s displays, animals and exhibits after hours,” said Caroline Wiggs, Pathfinders special events co-chair. “It’s great opportunity to bring a group of friends to the Museum and meet other Triangle professionals.” Pathfinders will sponsor cROCKadile Party on Thursday, April 10, featuring ‘80s music and the traveling exhibit, “National Geographic Channel Presents SuperCroc.”

Admission to Pints and Pulsars is free and open to adults 21 or over. Adult beverages $2; light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages provided. The event is co-sponsored by Chatham Hill Winery and Greenshields Brewery and Pub.

For more information on Pathfinders events, call 919/733-7450, ext. 303, or visit Pathfinders Web site, www.ncpathfinders.org. For information on Museum activities, programs and exhibits, see the Museum’s Web site at www.naturalsciences.org.
