announces major gift and previews ‘Powers of Nature’ traveling exhibit WHAT: Hear about a major gift in support of the Museum’s latest traveling exhibit, “Powers of Nature,” see the “Weather Machine” live auditorium program and tour the exhibition before it opens on Saturday, Oct. 19. WHO: Museum staff and Progress Energy officials. WHEN: Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Announcement begins at 11 a.m., followed by the 20-minute auditorium program, “Weather Machine.” Exhibit tour begins about 11:30 a.m. WHERE: The announcement and program take place inside the WRAL Digital Theater on the first floor of the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, 11 W. Jones St., in downtown Raleigh. DETAILS: “Powers of Nature” reveals the science behind natural disasters—how natural forces unleash their fury, how experts predict natural events and how these forces affect our lives. With more than 50 interactive exhibits, videos, immersion experiences, artifacts and personal stories, “Powers of Nature” explores the mighty forces in and around our Earth.
