The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences’ dramatic meeting spaces make wonderful events possible. Featuring four floors of state-of-the-art exhibits, the facility is the largest natural science museum in the Southeast. Its spectacular exhibits include a waterfall, a mountainscape, live animals, whale skeletons, dinosaurs, live butterflies, and unusual insects.

The Museum accommodates evening events hosting up to 1,500 guests. Choose a caterer from our comprehensive list to prepare the menu you desire for your special event.

Space options include:

  • Corporate event in Coastal CarolinaCoastal Carolina—Look in on sea creatures from salt marshes to the Atlantic’s great depths. The Museum’s great whale skeletons soar overhead in a stunning three-story atrium.
  • North Carolina’s Natural Treasures—Relax and chat amid a backdrop of Venus’ flytraps, tiger beetles, giant fossil shark teeth, and colorful songbirds.
  • Auditorium—View presentations by projector, video, or on a high-definition broadcast system in this state-of-the-art presentation area. Seats 270.
  • Special Exhibits Gallery—This lofty space accommodates up to 700 guests for a gracious reception. Guests enter through the Mountains to the Sea exhibit, passing by a 20-foot waterfall.
  • Mountains to the Sea—Walk through North Carolina’s natural habitats in this two-story diorama, complete with native plants, live animals, and a mountain waterfall.
  • Acro CafeAcro Café—With its glass roof, the Café is perfect for dining beneath the stars. The Tropical Conservatory, filled with live butterflies and hummingbirds, offers a beautiful backdrop.
  • Conference Room and Bicentennial Terrace—A wall of windows offers views of the capitol city’s twinkling lights from this elegant top-floor space. Step out on Bicentennial Terrace to overlook the State Legislative Building and State Capitol. Wonderful for daytime meetings or evening cocktails and appetizers.
  • Level A Meeting Room—Ideal for classes and meetings, this space accommodates 50 seated individuals and is available during Museum hours. An adjacent kitchen is available for meal or refreshment preparation.
