Chimpanzees Discovering
Chimpanzees Exhibit Description Cool Places to See Primates The North Carolina Zoological Park was the first zoo in the country to place animals in exhibits designed to recreate their natural habitats. Primates at the zoo include chimpanzees, western lowland gorillas, patas monkeys and hamadryas baboons just to name a few. For 20 years, the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. has been the home to golden lion tamarins, natives to Brazil's Atlantic coastal rainforest. By collaborating with conservation organizations, Zoo scientists helped save these small-endangered monkeys from extinction. Learn more about the zoo’s primates at http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/Primates/.
