"Exploring North Carolina" in Schools

Over the past four years, many students, teachers and administrators
have asked about the availability of episodes of "Exploring North
Carolina" for use in the classroom and as home study aids for students.
Now, thanks to a grant to the Friends of the North Carolina Museum of
Natural Sciences from the William R. Kenan Jr. Charitable Trust,
selected episodes and segments of the "Exploring North Carolina" series
will be provided at no cost to middle and secondary public schools in
this state. This extraordinary series will provide students with a
close-up look at North Carolina's important ecosystems, geology, rivers,
weather patterns, fauna and flora. Students will also have access to the
most up-to-date material on American Indians and the early explorers who
visited this region during the Age of Discovery.
A group of teachers is now working with Natural World Productions, LLC, and the staff of the Museum of Natural Sciences to select up to 12 episodes for distribution in the spring of 2008. It is anticipated that this material will be provided both in a DVD format and as downloads. Supporting written materials and links to additional related resources will also be provided. The group is also working on a plan to make these same materials available to private schools, home schooled students and other recognized educational institutions at a minimal cost.

Exploring North Carolina Episode Guide (UNC TV)
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, in downtown Raleigh, documents and interprets the natural history of the state of North Carolina through exhibits, research, collections, publications, and educational programming.
