Groundhog Day 2006 Sir Walter Wally says it's true — winter will stick around for another six weeks. Sir Walter Wally and Friends of the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences invite you to participate in the annual statewide celebration of Groundhog Day. Students from across the state reported their Weather Watch predictions to the Museum via the Web — you can see their reports here. At the Museum, we compiled the students' reports and created a statewide Weather Watch map, shown below. Follow the weather for the next six weeks through weekly weather reports from the National Climatic Data Center. This year's winner of the Groundhog Day drawing for the free field trip to the Museum is Sheila Smith, Media Specialist, from North Laurinburg Elementary. Congratulations to Sheila and the lucky students who will accompany her! For more information, contact Kathleen Freeman at (919) 733-7450 ext. 614.
