What types of reptiles are there? Can you name some of the snakes that are found in Ecuador? An 8th grader from Camp E-ma-henwu in Carteret County

Some of the reptiles found in Ecuador that we find interesting are Anacondas, iguanas, lizards and geckos. Both venomous and non-venomous snakes can be found in Ecuador. The Langsdorff Coral Snake and the Eyelash Palm Pit-Viper are two examples of native venomous snakes. Native non-venomous snake species include the Aesculapian False Coral Snake, which looks a lot like its venomous counterpart, and the Tropical Rat Snake. So far, the only reptiles we have seen were an unidentified snake that we found dead on the road and a lizard, later identified as a Peter’s Common Ameiva, that we spotted at the Marianita farm in Jipajopa.
