2008 Daily Journal

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

Wednesday was full of hugs and tears as we said not good-bye, but “until we meet again” to our Belizean family. We tried to put into words how much we appreciated all that they had done for us — especially Nathan, our amazing guide. A stranger to no one and a friend to all, he truly is a “Superman.” We boarded the Vitamin Sea at 7:45 am and headed back to the mainland after our last breakfast of fresh papaya and Johnny cakes.

saying good bye to NathanWe said farewell to Ernease and Emilio and thanked them for sharing their incredible country with us. We stopped at Cheers to hang an autographed Museum T-shirt from the ceiling and to enjoy a delicious picnic lunch of shrimp pasta salad and watermelon. When we arrived at the airport, we gave Nathan one last hug, checked our bags and headed to the terminal. Our flights to Miami and Raleigh were smooth and we arrived back in North Carolina just before midnight. It was a long day of traveling, but we can’t wait to share all of our stories and pictures with our friends, family and students!
