Have you seen any aquatic animals yet? Tim, 5th grade, Wake County

Today we went snorkeling in a mangrove lagoon. Most of what we saw were juvenile aquatic animals. The mangrove roots protect these young animals until they are large enough to enter the more open areas of the ocean. We saw colorful squid, large starfish, shrimp, Arrow Crabs, sting rays, Butterfly fish, Toad fish, Silver Balls and Upside-down Jelly Fish.
